6 Travel Items to Consider on Black Friday 2020

Black Friday is an opportunity to invest in some high quality pieces that will last you for a very loooong time. I wait all year to invest in some of these pieces, and think it’s the best time (along with end of year sales) to spend money on items that are normally out of your price range the rest of the year. The goal is to BUY LESS, but BUY BETTER.

Here are some items that have a meaningful discount now or this Black Friday:

1) Luggage

Carry on luggage is usually an expensive purchase, and you generally only need one for longer trips. Samsonite is a great choice, and they already have items on sale: Medium Checked Luggage.
For reference, most international flights cap checked luggage at 62” (Linear Dimension) ^^.

2) Clothing

Winter clothing is generally the most expensive clothing to buy, so now’s the time to nab it. Here are a few items to keep in mind:

  • Fleece-lined leggings (I bought a few pairs off Amazon earlier this year and LOVED them while hiking in Palo Duro this fall)

3) Shoes

I also thought THIS was a good round up of travel shoes to skim through for sales.
I don’t have any experience with EVERLANE shoes, but they’re having a decent sale (50%!).

4) Gear

  • Backpacks

    • Herschel (one very important sale item!)

    • Timbuk2 is a personal favorite, but it looks like only a few items are on sale

5) Life

The most regular thing in my life at this point is my PERIOD.
A few years ago I made some investments to make my cycle more sustainable, and it has been LIFE CHANGING. My cycle is now less painful and less of a disturbance in my life. The initial investment was pretty pricey, so I recommend checking these items out this week (at least signing up for their email list for sale alerts):

  • Menstrual cup

For reference, the Light flow model has been great for me, and works well for most women who have not given birth.

  • Period panties

I have 7 pairs of panties, 5 of which are “Heavy” flow. This has been enough for me! And these are going strong after two years (I only wear them once each during my cycle).

periodleggings
  • I wear these with a menstrual cup and even on my heaviest day have no worries.

I have tried and love all these products. They make traveling with my period so much easier, too!

6) Apps

  • VPN

Protect yourself and don’t use public wifi! From the linked list, I’ve heard good things about Nord VPN and TunnelBear.

Are you shopping this Black Friday? What’s the best investment piece you’ve bought for travel?
