Increase the Cozy! 5 Best Things I've Bought on Amazon During Quarantine

Quarantine has required some new coping mechanisms.

I’ve chosen to spend most of my time quarantining at home. I get groceries, go on daily walks in the nearby nature preserve, and sometimes work out at my apartment’s gym.

…I don’t plan to get on a plane anytime soon, and any upcoming travel will mostly focus on being in nature.

This means my scenery is mostly the same, and all interactions are remote. While this isn’t a huge departure from my working life, I have definitely experienced feelings of alienation, being trapped, and losing track of all sense of time and social context.

A few things have made life at home a little more cozy, and helped me stay on my self-care game:

  1. abstract art puzzle

While the abstract art puzzle I bought is no longer available, I found a few other examples that will look beautiful framed on your wall….if you like roses, world maps, or modern art. I’ve loved working on this puzzle in the evening while watching my show - it helps me relax while still giving me a sense of accomplishment! Lots of early lunch breaks spent working on this thing. :) I can’t wait to frame it as a memory of this time.

  2. 'modern florals' drawing book

I’ve loved slowing down a bit and drawing while watching TV or listening to music. It’s been great to be creative without much mess, and it livens up my process journals. You may want to also include the pens + blank journals I absolutely love.

  3. 1 gallon water jug

Some of my healthy habits have been harder to keep up without external scheduling cues (end of the workday, etc). This gallon jug helps me keep up with my water intake, which is arguably my most impactful healthy habit.

  4. eyeshadow pallet + brushes + mirror

Something new! I don’t know anything about makeup, and this seemed like the perfect time to try. Mess ups would never see the light of day! This classic, inexpensive pallet and brushes were a fun way to dip my toe in the water. Both have held up well over the last few months!

  5. stained glass decal

Making my home my absolute favorite place to be has been so important during this time. I moved my furniture around, donated clothing to create space, and added this decal to the largest windows in my apartment. It casts rainbows everywhere, shields my face from UV rays, and gives me privacy while I have my shades up. Super easy to install - no mess, and very affordable!

As a bonus, my local 99 cent store had some great coloring books and colored pencils. Highly recommend if you’re Amazon averse!

Have you indulged in any comforts since the start of the pandemic?
